Why Is Pediatric Dentistry Different From General Dentistry?

The earlier your children receive dental care, the less likely they will be to develop tooth decay, experience emergencies, or suffer from tooth loss. As a parent, you want your child to have a positive dental experience. Positive early interactions with dental professionals can improve your child's future attitudes toward dental care. That’s where our pediatric dental treatments come into play.

From a simple check-up to restorative work, Aldie Dental Care can help your family receive high-quality, attentive oral health care for the entire family. Our general family practice offers in-house pediatric dental treatments, making it easy for everyone to see the same dental provider.

Pediatric Dentistry

Your Child’s First Appointment

We strongly advise you to bring your infant in for a checkup as soon as their first tooth appears, and then every six months after that. While moving at your child's pace, we'll perform an exam and gentle cleaning (when appropriate). If further procedures or adjustments to hygiene routines are needed, we'll work with you and your child every step of the way.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride strengthens enamel and makes it more resistant to bacteria and deterioration. It is strongly advised to apply fluoride after each cleaning to help combat areas of tooth decay.

Lip and Tongue Tie Treatment

Lip and tongue ties should not be overlooked because the restricted movement can lead to growth and developmental problems. Fortunately, Dr. Rivera can offer a gentle and minimally invasive alternative to traditional tongue tie surgery, offering same-day results and a comfortable recovery.

Space Maintainers

When a tooth is lost prematurely or needs to be extracted before the adult tooth is ready to erupt into place, it can change your child’s tooth alignment. To prevent future orthodontic concerns, we can use an interim appliance called a space maintainer to hold that area open for the developing adult tooth.

Baby Root Canals

Pulp therapy, also known as "pulpotomies," is a root canal alternative for treating abscessed or severely decayed baby teeth. While preserving the tooth, removing the infection prevents it from spreading elsewhere in your child's face (or causing premature tooth loss.)
