Common Dental Emergencies

In order to save your smile, you need to act quickly if you have a broken or knocked-out tooth. Be sure to locate the missing portion of your tooth as soon as possible, and place it in a container with milk, saline, or tap water (if you’re using water, add a pinch of salt.)

The following are some of the most common dental emergencies we treat in our Aldie office:

Toothaches

Severe toothaches can indicate a serious underlying problem. If your tooth pain is interfering with your normal daily activities, you need to seek immediate care at our office in Aldie.

Abscesses

Dental abscesses indicate that the nerve of the tooth has died, is infected, or has been traumatized in some way. Without endodontic therapy, the infection can spread quickly and result in tooth loss.

Broken Teeth

Broken or chipped teeth are extremely sensitive and require immediate treatment. Usually within the first 1-2 hours for best results.

Loose Fillings

When a filling leaks or falls out, teeth are especially prone to fracture. Our emergency dentist can quickly repair the filling and save your tooth. In the meantime, avoid eating on that tooth.

Bleeding

Because the mouth is highly vascular, even minor injuries can cause bleeding. Apply firm pressure. If the bleeding does not stop, you may need sutures or other medical treatment.

Do You Have a Dental Emergency?

Please call our office and follow the prompts if you require emergency dental care. One of our on-call staff will contact you to walk you through the steps you must take until we can see you in our office.

We are currently accepting new patients! Give us a call right away!
