If you require oral surgery, we will go over the treatment plan with you and review all of the various options that are appropriate. Our care coordinators will also create a written outline that estimates your insurance benefits in relation to the necessary treatments.
Types of Oral Surgery We Provide
Once you’ve met with one of our dentists or specialists and discussed your smile goals, we will perform a thorough exam that includes digital imaging. From there, you’ll work together to determine the best type of oral surgery for your specific situation. Some of the most common oral surgeries we offer our Aldie office include:
Bone Grafting
Where previous bone anatomy has deteriorated, bone grafts add density to your jaw. By inserting synthetic or hospital-grade donor bone into the area, dental implants can be installed in a secure manner. If you've been told you're not a candidate for dental implants, bone grafting may be able to change that.
Sinus Lifts
The roots of your upper teeth extend into the upper jaw. Because they are so close to your sinus cavity an implant placed in that location could puncture the sinus lining and extend into the sinus cavity. The only way to ensure the success of implant treatment years after tooth loss is to perform a sinus lift.
Tori Removal
The term "tori" or "palatal tori" refers to the bony growth or extension in the roof of the mouth. Although tori do not occur in the majority of our patients, they do occur frequently enough that our Aldie dentists must provide supportive services when those growths begin to interfere with daily life, such as being able to wear a denture.
